O Conselho de Ministros no Império do Brasil

During the Empire of Brazil, the relationship between the Emperor (who had moderating power and was the head of State) and its Ministerial body was marked by tensions related to the attributions and limits of authority of them in the political sphere. The meaning of a position as President of the Council of Ministers, created in 1847, is discussed. O objetivo deste artigo é discutir o significado da criação, em 1847, do cargo de presidente do conselho de ministros. O argumento que perpassa estas páginas é que esta nova função, aliada ao fato de não ter recebido um regimento, favoreceu o reforço de laços, o estabelecimento de alianças políticas e interpretações diversas a respeito do sistema parlamentar no Império
