Os produtores Eventuais de Café: nota sobre os primórdios da cafeicultura paulista (Bananal, 1799 -1829)

This paper studies the people in Bananal, São Paulo, that planted coffee in at least one of the years between 1799 and 1828 and that in 1829 had ceased to produce coffee or did not appear in the 1829 census - the produtores eventuais of coffee plantation. Tomando como fontes as listas nominativas de habitantes e o Censo de Terras, visa-se ao aprofundamento do conhecimento acerca dos primevos da cafeicultura paulista. O exame de elementos demográficos e econômicos permitiu a caracterização dos produtores eventuais de café. Seus domicílios eram chefiados por pessoas em média mais velhas. Adiconalmente, tais fogos apresentavam-se menos favorecidos em termos da distribuição das propriedades escrava e fundiária. A grande maioria dos indivíduos em questão exercia sua faina agrícola em terras alheias. Eram, ademais, precárias as condições materiais em que se viviam, bem como elevada sua mobilidade espacial. &nbsp
