The article analyzes the motivations that led politically insurgent intellectuals to adhere to the Brazilian Communist Party as a way of furthering their aspirations and interests. It also examines this process from the Party’s perspective, that is, the motivations of the Party in relation to the intellectuals that moved in its orbit.O artigo pretende analisar as motivações que levaram uma intelectualidade contestadora insurgente a aderir ao Partido Comunista Brasileiro, no período de formação do Estado Nacional Brasileiro, como forma de dar vazão as suas aspirações e interesses, enquanto segmento social emergente. Procurava-se também contemplar em contrapartida, as motivações deste partido em relação a intelectualidade que orbitou em torno dele. Conclui-se tentando uma avaliação das motivações do gradual afastamento desses intelectuais do partido. &nbsp
