International audienceI propose an empirical study on theintroduction of an historical perspective onmathematics education at different levels in the French secondary school curriculum (11-18 years old). First of all, I present, in the historical contexts of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, elements of the biography of Leonardo da Pisa, better known as Fibonacci, and of his mathematical work. I pay close attention to the mathematics of the Islamic countries that had largely fed his thinking.
