International audienceExtensive excavations at some Magdalenian sites in the Paris basin bring progressively to real campsites. The general pattern shows occupation units side by side, each composed by a fireplace associated to archaeological remains more or less dense. The interpretation of these campsites rises several questions among others the recognition of settlements when habitation structure are absent. At Etiolles, the demonstration is based upon the comparison between two particular archaeological units selected for the absence of evident structure.
