International audienceThe rock shelter of Pont d'Ambon has produced a relatively modest assemblage of bone tools. These are distributed between the Late Magdalenian level and the Azilian horizon which ends the sequence. The technological study of this assemblage has revealed two distinct culturally determined “chaînes opératoires” applied to the production of bone artefacts at the site. The Magdalenian method relies exclusively on the groove and splinter technique on reindeer antler. The Azilian is based on two different processes, the first of which uses bone fragments derived from culinary waste.
