International audienceBy focusing on several sales of Mediterranean red coral beads that the Marseilles merchant François Garnier and his commission agent François Tiran made in Smyrna around 1680, this paper brings an insight into Eurasian trade during the early modern period, and the variety of links and means that were employed to circulate the goods involved. Moreover, it helped us understand the specific mechanisms of commercial activity in the main Levant port towards the end of the 17 th century and to identify the roles and actions of the men in charge of this trade.
