BIOLOGÍA FLORAL DE CACAO (Theobroma cacao L.); CRIOLLO, TRINITARIO Y FORASTERO EN MÉXICO

With the objective of identifying the dynamic of the floral biology and fruit development of cacao (Theobroma cacao L.) varieties, Creole, Trinitario and Forastero in the Soconusco region, Chiapas, Mexico, and relating them with environmental variables, the floral biology of five biological variants of T. cacao L. called: Creole: Carmelo, Lacandón, Lagarto; Trinitario: RIM 24 and Forastero: PMCT-58, was studied. The trees used were of juvenile stage (4-5 years) with 3 m height. Randomly, 10 floral buds from each tree were identified, without considering their position (n?150 floral buds between the five materials). The variables were: growth of floral bud, growth, development and maturation of the fruit, related to thevariables precipitation/temperature with fruit growth. The longitudinal growth period of the fruit was differential between the materials and varied from 110 to 150 daa (days after anthesis) and the diameter from 50 to 70 daa. The longest fruit (270 mm) was Creole lagarto and it grew until 150 daa; however, Trinitario RIM 24 cacao presented the highest growth in less time, reaching a length of 230 mm and diameter of 60 mm in 120 daa. The lowest growth was found in Forastero PMCT-58 cacao with 150 mm of length and 70 mm of width in 130 daa. The floral biology of the Creole, Trinitario and Forastero genotypes showed small variations in length and diameter of the floral bud, as well as the time of highest growth in the five materials of cacao.Con el objetivo de Identificar la dinámica de la biología floral y del desarrollo del fruto en cacaos (Theobroma cacao L.) Criollos, Trinitarios y Forasteros en el Soconusco, Chiapas, México, y relacionarla con variables ambientales, se estudió la biología floral de cinco variantes biológicas de T. cacao L., denominadas: Criollos: Carmelo, Lacandón, Lagarto; Trinitario: RIM 24 y Forastero: PMCT-58. Los árboles utilizados fueron de etapa juvenil (4-5 años) con 3 m de altura. Se identificaron al azar 10 botones florales de cada árbol sin considerar su posición (n?150 botones florales entre los cinco materiales). Las variables fueron: Crecimiento del botón floral, crecimiento, desarrollo y maduración del fruto, relacionadas con las variables precipitación/temperatura con el crecimiento de los frutos. El tiempo de crecimiento longitudinal del fruto fue diferencial entre los materiales y varió de 110 a 150 dda (días después de antesis) y el diámetro de 50 a 70 dda. El fruto más largo (270 mm) fue el criollo lagarto y creció hasta los 150 dda; sin embargo, el cacao trinitario RIM 24 presentó el mayor crecimiento en menor tiempo, alcanzó longitud de 230 mm y diámetro de 60 mm en 120 dda. El menor crecimiento se registró en el cacao forastero PMCT-58 con 150 mm de longitud y 70 mm de ancho en 130 dda. La biología floral de los genotipos criollos, trinitarios y forasteros registraron pequeñas variaciones en longitud y diámetro del botón floral, así como el tiempo de mayor crecimiento en los cinco materiales de cacao
