DIVERSIDAD GENÉTICA DEL AGUACATE (Persea americana Mill.) EN CUATRO ZONAS DE SU ÁREA DE DISPERSIÓN NATURAL

The avocado (Persea americana Mill.) is one of the four major tropical fruits worldwide. The genetic diversity of this Neotropical species is wide and has been difficult to study, so its taxonomy has been complex. In this regard, the use of highly polymorphic genetic markers as microsatellites, allows genetic diversity studies for the species. This study was performed in order to assess the genetic diversity of avocado trees in Zaragoza, N.L., Aquila, Ver., Chochololá, Yuc, y La Antigua Guatemala, using microsatelliteprimers. Leaf samples from the four areas were obtained and genomic DNA was extracted. This DNA was amplified with four microsatellite primers (SHRSPa056, SHRSPa089, SHRSPa109 and SHRSPa111). Results were analyzed using the program POPGENE v 3.4. The presence of specific alleles shows that this species has been subject to different domestication processes. In addition, the mosaic of shared alleles indicates similarity among selection and domestication processes that avocado has passed through by the different cultures that used it and molded its diversity and genetic structure. The different allele frequencies showed the genetic interaction among the four localities in study, probably due to open pollination ant its common origin. The presence of unique haplotypes, genetic similarity and genetic drift data provide information to explain the evolution of the species and mark guidelines for future research.El aguacate (Persea americana Mill.) es uno de los cuatro frutos tropicales más importantes a nivel mundial. La diversidad genética de esta especie neotropical es amplia y su taxonomía ha sido compleja. En este marco, el uso de marcadores genéticos altamente polimórficos como los microsatélites, permite estudiar la diversidad de esta especie, y con ello, se examinó la diversidad y relación genética del aguacate en cuatro zonas de su dispersión natural: Zaragoza, N.L., Aquila, Ver., Chochololá, Yuc, en México, así como, en La Antigua, Guatemala. Se obtuvieron muestras foliares de las localidades y se extrajo el ADN genómico para su amplificación con cuatro iniciadores de microsatelites (SHRSPa056, SHRSPa089, SHRSPa109 y SHRSPa111). Los resultados analizados con el programa POPGene V 3.4, evidenciaron presencia de alelos específicos indicando que esta especie ha estado sujeta a diferentes procesos de domesticación. Además, el mosaico de alelos compartidos indicó similitud entre procesos de selección y domesticación por las diferentes culturas que lo han utilizado y que han moldeado su estructura genética y diversidad. Las diferentes frecuencias de los alelos indicaron la interacción genética entre las cuatro localidades, probablemente debida a la polinización cruzada entre ellas y a su origen común. La presencia de haplotipos únicos, datos de similitud y deriva genética aportan información para explicar la evolución y marcan directrices para futuras investigaciones
