VENTAJA COMPARATIVA REVELADA DE LA FRESA (Fragaria spp.) MEXICANA EN LOS MERCADOS IMPORTADORES

The main exporting countries of strawberry (Fragaria spp.) are Spain, United States of America and México, which as a whole contribute around 74 % of the volume of exports at the global level. México is an important producer and exporter of strawberry globally, destining a high percentage of the production to foreign markets. The objective of the study was to analyze the comparative advantage and competitiveness of strawberry produced in México in the importing markets. Data of strawberry exports and total agricultural exports were obtained, and the indexes of revealed comparative advantage were calculated. The results obtained were positive and higher than the one reflecting that the strawberry produced in México has comparative advantages and is competitive in importing markets, which explains the position of México as one of the main producing and exporting countries of this product.Los principales países exportadores de fresa (Fragaria spp.) son España, Estados Unidos de América y México, los cuales en conjunto aportan alrededor del 74% del volumen de las exportaciones a nivel mundial. México es un importante productor y exportador de fresa a nivel mundial, destinando un alto porcentaje de la producción a los mercados externos. El objetivo del trabajo fue analizar la ventaja comparativa y competitividad de la fresa producida en México en los mercados importadores. Se obtuvieron datos de exportación de la fresa y exportaciones totales agrícolas y se calcularon los índices de ventaja comparativa revelada. Los resultados obtenidos fueron positivos y mayores que uno reflejando que la fresa producida en México tiene ventajas comparativas y es competitivo en los mercados importadores, lo que explica la posición de México como uno de los principales países productores y exportadores de este producto
