By use of data provided by the Department of Industry the temporal,spatial, and industrial characteristics of plants moving within and into North West England between 1966 and 1975 are explored. Details from a data bank of all industrial establishments in North West England allows greater spatial detail concerning the locations of migrant plants within each subregion. Merseyside is the dominant destination for newly opened plants whereas Manchester provides a pool of new entrepreneurship and a source of regionally mobile enterprise. Within Merseyside new openings concentrate in suburban locations, and the new towns also fare well.
