The increasing importance of Eastern Europe for Austria's foreign trade has given a considerable boost to the growing level of internationalisation among Austrian businesses. Austria's export of goods has almost doubled over the past 15 years, and more than a third of this successful internationalisation drive derived from exports into the CEE region. In 2008, 23.3 percent of all exports of Austrian goods were destined for the CEEC 21. Exports of services into the CEEC 21 are slightly lower (18.8 percent) but in terms of service imports the region is markedly more important (imports from the CEEC 21: 24.9 percent).Außenhandel MOEL 5 MOEL 21 Ostmitteleuropa
