From an implementation perspective, the function block technology provided by IEC61499 is employed to construct networked control systems (NCSs). A design methodology following component-based development is suggested for function block based NCSs. The Matlab/TrueTime environment is used as the underlying platform. With an illustrative example, a simulation method based on the proposed system design methodology is presented. It is argued that the proposed methods could significantly benefit the implementation of NCSs by enhancing system flexibility while improving control performance. 1
