this paper we do two things towards this goal. After presenting a motivating example, we revisit the relationships between goals, desires and intentions in the BDI model with a view to understanding the kinds of situations in which both goals and desires should be represented (Section 2). We then look at ways in which norms and obligations might be added to this model and make some general comments about such formalisations (Sections 3 and 4). In particular, we propose that for goal generation, interactions between desires, obligations and norms can resolved by preference orderings, and discuss how an agent might form intentions given certain desires, goals, norms and obligation
