Abstract

The paper highlights aspects of the design of industrial structures. In particular, the varied interpretations of wind loading and overstress rules for uplift are examined. Other factors discussed include roof and wall bracing, design of tension members under self-weight, effective length factors for rafters and columns of portal frames and the design of single angle struts in trusses
