In the Netherlands, the residential building sector accounts for 20% of energy consumption and 14% of carbon emissions. To reach the ambitious National targets of decreasing energy consumption and to stop this sector’s reliance on natural gas, a wide renovation of the building stock is needed. Residential buildings’ energy performance has to improve, approximately 7 million dwellings need costly renovations.
