The author has been supplying course notes to students on the computer network for many years. These were usually developed using a word processor, but in 1999 the course notes were converted to web pages so they could be viewed by a web browser. This system, referred to as CourseWeb, allowed the use of hyperlinks to definitions and other resources available on the World Wide Web, which (hopefully) provided a richer source of course material as well as making the notes more enjoyable for the students to use
