The simulation of cavitation phenomena plays an important role for the development of modern hydraulic tools and injection systems. Cavitation leads to a reduction of mass ow and inuences the wave motion in hydraulic components signi cantly. The article deals with the simulation of a homogeneous cavitation model based on the thermodynamic and caloric properties of liquid and steam with the goal to study basic physical phenomena and time dependent properties. The presented model and numercial scheme can be applied to the simulation of more complex hydraulic systems
