In a time when it is becoming increasingly important to find ways to enable more mobile users to use the same space, it is particularly important to find ways of predicting the performance of a code-division multiple access (CDMA) system. Currently system capacity can be increased by decreasing the cell size in order to manage a larger number of mobiles in the same space or by increasing the individual cell capacity through methods such as digital beamforming. This paper extends power and capacity estimates shown by Earnshaw in [1] and Earnshaw and Blostein in [5] to make improvements for the multi-element antenna array case.
