this paper is organized as follows. Section 2 describes the basic design of a multicast delivery Web server. Section 3 gives an overview of the benefits and costs of multicast delivery and how one may judge the cost/benefit tradeoffs. Section 4 describes a set of research issues that need to be tackled in the design and deployment of a multicast delivery web service. Section 5 summarizes our experience with the performance of Web multicast delivery prototypes and simulation [8, 9]. Section 6 concludes the paper. 2 Scalable Web Delivery Using Multicast--The Basic Desig
