: KOAN is a shared virtual memory (SVM) system initially designed and implemented for the Intel iPSC/2 supercomputer. The main features of KOAN are its support for both strong and relaxed consistency. In addition, KOAN offers three mechanisms increasing the performance of applications using SVM: page broadcasting, page locking and a mechanism which eliminates double faults. This document describes the design choices, implementation and first performance measures of an implementation of KOAN, named MYOAN, on the Intel Paragon XP/S.
