INTRODUCTION Previous chapters discuss the opportunities and benefits of SRE throughout the entire life cycle, from requirements determination through design, implementation, testing, delivery, and operations. Properly applied, SRE is an important positive influence on the ultimate quality of all life cycle products. The set of life cycle activities and artifacts, together with their attributes and interrelationships, that are related to reliability 1 comprise what we here refer to as the reliability process. The artifacts of the software life cycle include documents, reports, manuals, plans, code, configuration data, test data, ancillary data, and all other tangible products. Software reliability is dynamic and stochastic. In a new or u...
