This paper describes the use of the TLM method to efficiently predict the electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of structures containing thin polymer panels. An improved routine for dealing with such panels is introduced and tested against analytical results. It is shown that practical threedimensional non-canonical problems, incorporating enclosure shapes too complex for an analytical solution, can be solved numerically with modest computational resources. The results obtained show that the shielding effectiveness of realistic enclosures at low frequencies falls far below that for a single plate of the same material
