In motor control studies alone, handwriting has been studied from many points of view, from models integrating cognitive and motor processes to algorithms simulating handwriting trajectories. In research fields as diverse as Developmental Psychology, Neuropsychology, or Computer Science, basic units can be words, letters, or strokes. Thus, a unified view is hard to come by.
