this report, a brief overview of current synthesizer practices and technology is presented in section 2, and the physical characteristics of an acoustic guitar are discussed in section 3. Linear filter models for digital strings are developed in section 4, and the complete guitar model is presented in section 5. Methods for estimating string model parameters from sampled data are developed in section 6, followed by a discussion of linear body modeling in section 7. A complete analysis of a sampled string is presented in section 8. Section 9 discusses how the model parameters affect the resulting string sound.
