this paper is to present the mechanisms used and the results obtained in the application of workstation clusters for the distributed simulation of parallel DSP computer systems. Using a test-bed consisting of conventional UNIXä workstations connected by a 10-Mbps local area network (LAN) and parallel programming tools like Lindaä, we have been able to realize a significant reduction in simulation time by segmenting the model and providing enough coarse-grain work at each workstation to compensate for the network communication overhead associated with LAN-based cluster computing
