Achieving Interoperability in Multidatabase Systems

The work presented in this paper concentrates on the issues of determining the ideal way of schema connection and knowledge organization to support interoperation in multidatabase systems (MDBSs). In particular the structure of the Data Correspondence Descriptor (DCD) is addressed as the knowledge base for each database to learn about other databases in a MDBS. 1 Introduction With the current advances in communication and network technology many organizations have shown considerable interest in integrating and consolidating their physically dispersed data/information resources.
