When a networked virtual reality system handles composite media audio and video as well as three dimensional computer graphics, the quality of the virtual space is also greatly affected by the currently available network and end system resources. In this paper, we discuss the architecture of a networked virtual reality system C 3 . We propose a new criterion called IoP(Importance of presence) for the quality control of virtual spaces. We have implemented our prototype system of C 3 on a QoS enabled network which can preserve a certain amount of resources. C 3 can adjust the quality of virtual space according to the available resources. Keywords Virtual environment, VRML, Quality control, Importance of presence(IoP) 1. Introduction P...
