ANALISA SAMBUNGAN LAS FRICTION STIR WELDING ALUMINIUM 5083 DENGAN VARIASI TOOL TILT ANGLE TERHADAP SIFAT MEKANIK DAN STRUKTUR MIKRO

Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is one of the welding technologies that uses friction between tool rotation and stationary workpieces. The purpose of this research is to study the effect of the tool tilt angle on the Friction Stir Welding (FSW) welding joint on the mechanical properties and microstructure. Materials and tools used are Aluminum 5083, milling machines, HSS tools. The welding parameters used are 1500 Rpm spindle rotation, 60 mm / minute feed rate, 3.1 mm tool depth. Variations used with the slope of the tool 1 °, 2 °, 3 °. In the mechanical properties of specimens in tensile tests, hardness tests, and microstructure tests. The results show that the highest tensile strength (76.97 Mpa) occurs at an angle of 2 °. The highest tensile strain (0.0165%) occurs at an angle of 3 °. The average value of Vickers hardness in almost every corner in the HAZ area has the highest value, while in the Weld Nugget area the lowest value. In the microstructure photo done in the Weld Nugget area it can be seen that the white region is composed of Al particles while for Mg2Si it is shown in the black region. The grain size is more balanced and tight at a tilt angle of 1 °, whereas at an angle of 2 ° and 3 ° the grain size arrangement of the particles looks more coarse due to the stress factor at the back of the shoulder due to the tool tilt angle
