KOMUNIKASI ANTARPERSONAL DALAM MENJAGA KERUKUNAN ANTARSUKU (STUDI PADA MASYARAKAT SUKU BUGIS DAN TIDUNG DI RT. 05 KELURAHAN SELUMIT, KECAMATAN TARAKAN TENGAH, KOTA TARAKAN)

The purpose of this study is to find out how the interpersonal communication process in maintaining harmony between tribes that occurs with the Bugis and Tidung tribes in RT. 05 Kelurahan Selumit Kec. Tarakan Barat Tarakan city. This research is motivated by the riots between Bugis and Tidung tribes which resulted in communication distance and group system. Researchers want to find out how interpersonal communication between the two tribes tries to maintain harmony after a setback in communication. The research approach used is a descriptive qualitative type with the Bugis research sub-topic with the same location selected based on purposive sampling technique. Data collection was carried out in the form of observations, structured interviews, and documentation and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman . The data validity test is carried out by using triangulation methods by conducting structured interviews with the Tidung people at the same research location. There are five stages in the process of forming interpersonal communication, namely contact, involvement, intimacy, setback, and improvement. The effectiveness of communication in this study is a measure of the success of interpersonal communication, which consists of openness, empathy, supportive attitude, positive attitude, and equality. In this study all four subjects felt a setback of communication due to the riots that occurred with the Bugis and Tidung tribes . The situation and circumstances at the time made the relationship negative, because of feelings of anxiety, discomfort, insecurity, prejudice against each other. This gives rise to a system of grouping because of negative feelings, and prefers who the other person is speaking to in the current situation. But one subject said he felt fine and kept in touch, even though he also felt frightened. The conclusion of this study, the Bugis and Tidung tribes have certainly experienced a setback in relations which has led to a negative attitude from both of them. But with the perbai k 's to try to evaluate and find a solution it can be removed. this is of course also by building positive attitudes, and measuring the success of interpersonal communication that is the effectiveness of communication is also fulfilled
