PENGARUH KADAR PATI JAGUNG DENGAN LAKTOSA TERHADAP MUTU FISIK TABLET EKSTRAK SARANG SEMUT (Myrmecodia pendans)

Background: One of the interesting medicinal plants to be tested is ant-plant (Myrmecodia pendans) due to active components of flavonoid compounds that have anti-diabetic properties. In this research, an ant-plant extract tablet formula was developed. Currently, most of the ant-plant were sold in the form of capsules or herbal tea steeping. Research Objectives: This research aimed to determine the effect of corn starch with levels of 10%, 20%, and 30% on the physical quality of ant-plant extract tablets and to determine the levels of corn starch that can make tablets that meet the requirements. Method: The ant-plant extract in this research was made by kinetic maceration with 96% ethanol solvent. Furthermore, for the tablet, it was made using the wet granulation method with the addition of other fillers in the form of corn starch. Granule examination included flow rate and angle of repose, moisture content, compressibility, fines content, and compactibility. Whereas the physical quality inspection of the tablets includes hardness, friability, and disintegration time of the tablet. Then analyzed statistically. Results and Conclusions: The results of this research indicated that the greater levels of corn starch decreased the hardness and disintegration time of tablets while increased the fragility of tablets. The results of the statistical analysis showed that there were significant differences in each of the formulas.
