. In the last years the topic of adaptation and learning in multi-agent systems has gained increasing attention in Artificial Intelligence. This article is intended to provide a compact, introductory and motivational guide to this topic. The article consists of two sections. In the first section, "Remarks", the range and complexity of this topic is outlined by taking a general look at the concept of multi-agent systems and at the notion of adaptation and learning in these systems.
