Passivity- based controller is designed for the thyristor controlled series capacitor (TCSC) aimed at enhancing power system stability. The design problem formulated as optimization Problem and then particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique was used to search for optimal parameters. The proposed control and technique are employed on test system under different cases and location of TCSC. To validate the effectiveness of the TCSC on enhancing system stability, Eigen values analysis and nonlinear time-domain simulation implemented on SMIB equipped with TCSC.
