. This paper presents an evolutionary approach to learning emergent style in architectural designs. Emergence is the process of making features explicit which were previously only implicit. Style is considered as a set of common characteristics of a group of designs. A syntax-semantics model to interpret style is proposed and is represented at a genetic level. A genetic engineering technique is used to find the mapping between emergent style and the gene structures which produce that style. Preliminary results are presented. 1.
