In this paper a new and reliable method of improving retrieval performance, and which complement feature weighting is proposed. More over a framework for combination of the feature image which results in distinguishes content of in image is presented. Image retrieval based on content is one of the active research directions. In this study, the combination of Gabor filter features and tile method provide effective feature set for image retrieval. Experimental results exhibit that the proposed method yields higher retrieval accuracy than some conventional methods. The system has the potential of developing into a semantic based CBIR system by proper mathematical modeling of the texture features
