In this study, I hypothesize that as politics becomes more polarized, peoples’ general trust of one another decreases. Around the time of Trump’s campaign and election in 2016, political discourse in particular seemed to grow increasingly inflammatory. Using data from the General Social Survey (GSS) to measure social trust, and DW-Nominate scores for political polarization, I applied a multivariate regression analysis to determine the strength and direction of the relationship between the two variables.No embargoAcademic Major: Sociolog
