In this essay, the author examines the political party as an element of transformation of political representation and state institutions. After the suffrage enlargement and the overcoming of the monoclass state, starting from the first post-war period, the political parties became the main architects of the new constitutions. On the other hand, the instability of the Government and, above all, the scarce democratization of the intermediate bodies contributed to favoring the formation of political regimes dominated by a single party
