Many western societies are characterised as ‘risk societies’ in that they are increasingly occupied with debates on the prevention and management of risks that in many cases derive from societies themselves. According to article 4 of the UNCRC, governments, countries and families have the responsibility to ensure the protection of rights aiming to safe and secure environments where children can grow and reach their full potential.
