The Filipino North American community has been referred to as the “forgotten Asian Americans” due to the death of mental health literature surrounding their concerns and general experience. This represents a significant knowledge gap given that Filipinos represent the fourth largest immigrant group in the United States (almost 2 million people), and accounting for 16.1% of the immigration population in Canada. This pattern of representation was mirrored in the First Episode Psychosis Program (FEPP) of the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, Canada, where this study took place.
