Arsenic (As) is a metalloid that occurs naturally in the Earth’s crust, in bedrock and soil. The concentrations that Arsenic can be found are normally between 1-3 ppm. However, the concentrations vary naturally between different locations on the globe, and usually places that have sulphur-rich and shale deposits are linked to higher concentrations of Arsenic.
