This report was prepared on the basis of the 27 national reports submitted by the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995), in the context of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action 1995 (Beijing+25).1 The national reports provide a comprehensive review of the progress made in the past five years, the obstacles encountered by women and girls and the main challenges to achieving substantive equality.Introduction .-- I.
