This paper centres upon the problem of linguistic expressiveness. This semantic category is examined in the context of political discourse. Having persuasion as its basic strategy political rhetoric abounds in expressive persuasion techniques. The study aims at the consideration of the verbal means of expressiveness used in different types of political discourse in order to establish credibility and trust, to increase the degree of influence on the audience. The article presents an integrated analysis of expressive means which are typical of all levels of the English language including phonetic, morphological, syntactical and lexical level
