Fabricar y luchar… para emancipar. La tecnología militar insurgente en la independencia de México

The objective of this article is to know about the military and technological transformations experienced by the habitants of New Spain, because of the armed insurrection led by Miguel Hidalgo, on September 16, 1810. The article emphasizes the kind of weapons used by rebels to face the spanish army; the support that they received from militaries, operators and ex-students of the Mining College about the process of armament fabrication; the organizational and spatial structure of the armories; the difficulties that insurgents experienced when they produced war material, and the alternative mechanisms that they used to get their weapons.Este artículo busca asomarse a las transformaciones tecnológicas y militares que experimentaron los habitantes de la Nueva España, a causa de la insurrección armada encabezada por Miguel Hidalgo el 16 de septiembre de 1810. Se hace hincapié en los tipos de armas usados por los rebeldes para enfrentar al ejército español; en el apoyo que tuvieron de militares, operarios y ex alumnos del Colegio de Minería en el proceso de fabricación de armamento; en la estructura organizativa y espacial de las maestranzas; en las dificultades de los insurgentes al momento de producir material bélico, y en los mecanismos alternos que emplearon para hacerse de armas
