This article proposes that Betsknate, a festival and ritual celebration of the Kamsá people, sheds light on how this indigenous group understands the presence of white settlers. Participants of Betsknate refer to historical and mythical elements that have been essential for the definition of being Kamsá. I suggest that the carnival´s characters provide key clues to understand how natives have interpreted and linked historical processes and mythical narratives wherein ritual sacrifice sublimates the latent bellicosity resulting from a violent past related to the presence of whites in Putumayo, Colombia.A partir da análise do Betsknate, festividade ritual do povo kamsá, este artigo propõe uma interpretação sobre as formas em que esse grupo lê...
