The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between social climate in prisons and the perceived stress experienced by persons deprived of their liberty in a prison in Tarapoto. A non-experimental, correlational and cross-sectional design was used. The target population was 300 and an absolute sample of 95 male inmates held in a Tarapoto prison. The instruments used were the Social Climate Scale for Penitentiary Institutions CIES and the Perceived Stress Scale PSS-14.
