Caracterización apícola en la región sierra centro-norte de Veracruz: contexto y trashumancia

This article presents the result of an investigation carried out from August 2015 to November 2016, to characterize the beekeeping production and transhumant activity of the municipalities of Misantla, Yecuatla, Colipa, Juchique de Ferrer and Tenochtitlan.Interviews are conducted with specialists, experts and honey producers. It isfound that the beekeeping activity is carried out for at least 500 families with an average experience of 22 years, with semi-extensive transhumant systems with an average production of 24 kg of honey per beehive, of which 9% have more than 500 beehives working under semi-technified schemes. Among these systems, only 10% of beekeepers have invested in the differentiation of beehiveproducts. The volume of honey generated with production systems of a queen bee per beehive is at least 90 tyear-1, with an economic value of $174000 (US $). It has been found that 90% of beekeepers in the study region transhuman between places in that region and 23% of them do it to another entity. On the other hand, it was also found that access and permission to land are factors that define transhumant routes and identification of suitable areas for apiaries settlement. This research provides a map of areas used as apiaries settlements, as research work, their results deserve the attention of future research to identifyspatial zones through systems of geo-positioning, as well as a transhumance program for these locations based on calendars of floweringEste artículo presenta el resultado de una investigación realizada de agosto 2015 a noviembre 2016, para caracterizar la producción apícola y actividad trashumante de los municipios de Misantla, Yecuatla, Colipa, Juchique de Ferrer y Tenochtitlan. Se realizaron entrevistas con especialistas, expertos y productores de miel. Se encontró que la actividad apícola la realizan al menos 500 familias con experiencia promedio de 22 años, con sistemas trashumantes semi extensivos y producción promedio de 24 kg de miel por colmena, de los cuales 9% tienen más de 500 colmenas bajo esquemas semi-tecnificados. Entre estos sistemas el 10% de apicultores han invertido en la diferenciación de los productos de la colmena. El volumen de miel generado con sistemas de producción de una abeja reina por colmena es al menos 90 t año-1, con valor económico de $ 174 000.00 (US$). Se ha encontrado que 90% de los apicultores de la región trashuman entre lugares de dicha región y 23% de ellos lo realizan a otra entidad. Por otra parte, también el acceso y permiso a terrenos son factores que definen las rutas trashumantes e identificación de zonas aptas apiarios. Esta investigación aporta un mapa de zonas utilizadas como asentamientos de apiarios, como trabajo de investigación, sus resultados merecen la atención futuras investigaciones para identificar zonas espaciales mediante sistemas de geoposicionamiento, así como un programa de trashumancia para dichos emplazamientos en función de calendarios de floración
