Qualidade da água de poços tubulares em Iguatama, Minas Gerais

The high population growth coupled with increased waste generation has modified the quality and availability of both surface and groundwater. This study aims to verify the water quality and the treatment system efficiency implanted in different points of underground water abstraction in the municipality of Iguatama, Minas Gerais. Eight distinct collection points were defined, with the help of local water service sanitation provider (SAAE), which established a route for the collection, according to their importance level for the population, being five tubular wells in urban areas and three in rural areas. The analyzes were performed in the SAAE laboratory of Córrego Fundo-MG. The physical-chemical parameters analyzed were: residual chlorine, pH, turbidity and color. The microbiological parameters were: total coliforms, Escherichia coli and heterotrophic bacteria. The analyzes results demonstrated compliance with the potability standards established by the legislation and the treatment proved to be efficient at all collected points. No significant differences were found between the urban and rural areas, demonstrating that there is no association of results obtained with these sites. The municipality is concerned with maintaining water quality as well as all the care around the points such as enclosure and sanitation, which favors a better water quality.O elevado crescimento populacional juntamente com o aumento da geração de resíduos tem modificado a qualidade e disponibilidade das águas tanto superficiais quanto subterrâneas. Este trabalho tem o objetivo de verificar a qualidade da água e a eficiência do sistema de tratamento implantado em diferentes pontos de captação de água subterrânea no município de Iguatama, Minas Gerais. Foram definidos oito pontos distintos de coleta, de acordo com o nível de importância destes para a população, sendo cinco poços tubulares em zonas urbanas e três em zonas rurais. As análises foram realizadas no laboratório do SAAE de Córrego Fundo-MG. Os parâmetros físico-químicos analisados foram: cloro residual, pH, turbidez e cor. Os parâmetros microbiológicos foram: coliformes totais, Escherichia Coli e bactérias heterotróficas. Os resultados das análises demonstraram conformidade com os padrões de potabilidade estabelecidos pela legislação e o tratamento se mostrou eficiente em todos os pontos coletados. Não foram verificadas diferenças significativas entre a zona urbana e rural, demonstrando que não há associação dos resultados obtidos com estes locais. O município se preocupa em manter a qualidade da água, bem como todos os cuidados ao redor dos pontos, como cercamento e higienização
