The geography, geomorphology, tectonics, stratigraphy and economic potentials of the Euphrates river basin are given with emphasis on Iraqi parts. The course of the river inside Iraq runs mainly in the Mesopotamian Plain, whereas basin of the river is located in different tectonic zones with different characters. Accordingly, the Quaternary sediments being dominated by the alluvial plain sediments cover large parts of the river’s course, whereas the basin area is covered mainly by different rocks types of different ages. The main economic potentials are the existing oil fields, limestone deposits for cement industry and many non-metallic deposits.Validerad;2019;Nivå 1;2019-11-19 (johcin)</p
