Fish lipids are rich dietary sources of n-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acid (LC-PUFAs). Among n-3 fatty acids, the most important are eicosapentaenoic (20:5 n-3, EPA) and docosahexaenoic (22:6 n-3, DHA) acids which have important roles in the prevention and treatment of different diseases. The aim of this study was to analyze the fatty acid content of fresh marine fish available on the Serbian market. In five species of marine fish (salmon, tuna, mackerel, sardines and hake) the content and composition of fatty acids were analyzed.
