L’épreuve d’être : exigence et expérience

International audienceThis article aims to capture the relationships between the two functions given to the idea of the "test of being" in Being and Nothingness. In the introduction to this book, it is both a fundamental requirement for the constitution of a phenomenological ontology and a singular experience whose name seems to refer to the novel published in 1938 under the title La nausée. The point here is to show that this invocation is accompanied by a transformation within the philosophical work at the same time as a repetition of this experience, so that its invocation no longer appears as a blind spot in the process but as a moment of systematization that does not taint the universalizing dimension of philosophical work.Cet article se propose de saisir les relations présentes entre les deux fonctions données à l'idée d'«épreuve d'être» dans L'Être et le néant. Dans l'introduction de cet ouvrage, elle est à la fois une exigence fondamentale pour la constitution d'une ontologie phénoménologique et une expérience singulière dont la nomination semble renvoyer au roman paru en 1938 sous le titre La nausée. Il s'agit ici de montrer que cette invocation s'accompagne d'une transformation au sein de l'oeuvre philosophique en même temps que d'une reprise de cette expérience, de telle sorte que son invocation n'apparaisse plus comme un point aveugle de la démarche mais comme un moment de la systématisation n'entachant pas la dimension universalisante du travail philosophique
